The
Witchery
Story
Proudly Australian, Witchery was founded in South Australia in 1970, and from its very beginnings, offered affordable fashion for working Australian women. By the late 1980’s, the brand direction had evolved, taking on a premium and quality-focused design sensibility.
Expanding into David Jones in 2003, our now iconic label saw exponential growth. The longstanding and influential White Shirt Campaign was introduced in 2008 in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, a partnership that has raised over $16 million to find an early detection test for ovarian cancer.
Retail stores went international, launching in both New Zealand and South Africa in 2010. This was all before becoming part of something bigger – the Country Road Group, in 2012.

In 2020 we marked a monumental milestone of 50 years in the fashion industry, commemorated with a signature collection and unforgettable visual campaign. In 2023, we expanded into Myer and launched our Mobile App, bringing our design ethos to more women than ever before.
Today, we continue to take an ever-evolving and contemporary approach to apparel and accessories, balancing design innovation with quintessential ready-to-wear styles.
